Can I Dive - Some Common Questions Answered:
1. Can I dive?
Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit and can swim will be able
to scuba dive.
When you check-in at a diving centre, you will be asked to sign a ‘liability releases
& assumptions of risk” and “medical disclaimer” form. If you have any medical condition
contrary to these requirements you must produce a valid diving medical certificate
of fitness. medical questionnaire
Children can start their diving activity at the age of 10 and can attend a variety
of courses. Younger children (between 8 and 10 years) can attend a “Bubblemaker
Programme”, which is a fun introduction to scuba diving.
It is strongly advisable to have a proper Diving Insurance Cover before undertaking
any scuba diving activity.
2. What are my options
In the Red Sea, beginner diving courses are offered by basically all diving schools
and are recognised world-wide. An Open Water Course, for example, typically takes
four to five days to complete. Just imagine, after the theory and pool sessions,
you will be able to be trained as a diver in one of the most outstanding underwater
habitats in the world.
Entry level courses are designed to help you learn to dive safely, with a buddy,
to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60 feet). Each course consists of diving theory
sessions, training dives in a pool or confined body of water, and practice dives
in the open sea under the direct supervision of a qualified instructor.
If you want to get a taste of diving before committing yourself to a full course
you can try a one-off introductory dive or Discover Scuba Diving experience.
In Red Sea there are many scuba diving agencies offering a variety of courses. For a full list of international dive training agencies
