The clear waters of Safaga are not only a Mecca for windsurfers, also kitesurfers have found out that this place offers some great conditions for their favourite water sports.
Due to the mountains in the back running from north to south, the thermal wind is constant and normally 1 – 2 Bft stronger than in Hurghada 50 km to the north.
The waters in the huge, wide bay of Safaga remain quite flat, with no breaking waves, even with wind strength of 5 - 6 Bft. Beginners find ideal standing areas sheltered from the wind along the extensive and beautiful sandy beaches. Some centres also use a secluded bay towards the north, the famous ‘Kreazy Beach’, to practice different moves in safe conditions (transfer provided).
The wind blows in the morning with 2 – 4 Bft from side-offshore and in the afternoon sideshore from the left with usually 5 Bft.
