Destination Dahab - Windsurfing in Dahab

The small city of Dahab, one hour by car from Sharm el Sheikh, is probably the oldest and best known windsurfing destination in the whole Red Sea. The wind blows almost all day long! Depending on your position around the famous lagoon south of Dahab city, the wind blows cross-offshore to offshore and also sideshore. The best months for windsurfing are May, June and September.

Here, we find different windsurfing spots: the wonderful blue lagoon, with a shallow and protected bay with a sandy bottom, is a perfect place for those who want to try out windsurfing for the first time or enrol in a complete course.

Experts and freestylers will have a lot of fun outside the protected lagoon in the area called “speedy”: a perfect shallow water area with stronger winds and with some choppy waves. The third spot is ‘napoleon reef ‘and suitable for wave freaks. The swell is up to four metres high but has no breaking waves; the direction is perfect and creates fantastic jumping conditions.
