4- Sustainable Underwater Heritage Project Plan Management in Egypt

Popular diving attractions, such as the Thistlegorm or the Roman wreck at Fury Shoals are Underwater Cultural Heritage (UCH) sites that attract many visitors.  Each year, the Thistlegorm generates €5,000,000 and attracts thousands of visitors to Egypt’s Red Sea.

To better understand how to manage and protect our historical shipwrecks from risks such as illegal salvage, looting, destruction and decomposition of the wrecks; Alicia Johnson a Graduate researcher at the Alexandria Centre For Maritime Archaeology and Underwater Cultural Heritage (CMAUCH), is asking for the SCUBA diving community to help with her research by answering a quick survey on wreck diving in the Red Sea.  We encourage you to participate in this survey and share it with your guides and guests!
