We hope this summer season went well.
The Green Fins Egypt initiative has been given a unique opportunity with a special offer for interested applicants. Our efforts to launch the network were slowed down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but now we are coming back in full force to help you become a more eco-friendly dive operator. In order to certify and support the dive centers that are truly making an effort to be eco-friendly, the CDWS has taken the decision that to be awarded a Green Fins certificate and become an active member, members must pass a threshold in their assessment.
During the assessment process, you receive a score between 330 to 0, based on your operation's impact on the environment with 0 representing 0 risks to the marine environment. Your business will have to reach a minimum score of 150 or less in order to become a certified member. Those who do not pass the minimum score will have to redo an assessment after receiving training and feedback on 3 action points to improve on by the Green Fins team. Once you become a member, the assessment is done once a year to follow your progress and help Egypt learn how to overcome the challenges we are all facing.
The UNDP's Mainstreaming Biodiversity in the Tourism Sector project has partially subsidized Green Fins Egypt for the remainder of this year, to help the first 25 centers who sign up to enroll in the initiative and work towards reducing their environmental impact on the Red Sea. This means we can further help you during these difficult times.
Starting September 2021 till December 2021, the first 25 dive or snorkel centers applying to become a member will benefit from a 50% discount on assessments:
- The initial assessment is discounted by 30% and is now priced at 115 EUR.
- If you meet the minimum score from the first assessment, we will provide you with the remainder 20% discount. This can be either a 33 EUR refund or could be kept as a reduced fee for your next assessment the following year.
- If you do not meet the minimum score and require a second assessment, your second assessment will be discounted at 20% or 132 EUR.
- We are still offering a member pack with Green Fins posters, stickers, flag slates, and more at 50 EUR, and you can purchase our Green Fins flag independently at 15 EUR.
