The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is the main authority responsible for planning, development and marketing policies for the tourism industry. It has defined its goals to increase internal tourist traffic and to focus on marketing activities abroad in target countries and in segments that can drive incoming tourism in the immediate term.

The ministerial decrees are issued by the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities and have the force of law.

According to article 2 of law No. 1 of 1973 in regards to hotel and tourist facilities “All Entities and places, which essentially are prepared and intended to receive and serve tourists (such as hotels, cruises, nightclubs, restaurants, etc….) are touristic establishments and must obtain a license from MOT&ِِِِA to work legally”.

  • The MOT&A License is issued by the name of the service provider
  • All entities operating in the field of diving and watersports must follow the instructions and regulations issued by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities
