Dear CDWS members,
Regarding this morning’s scattered oil blotches found on the shoreline of Dahab, in the areas from Asala to Mashraba. Clean-up efforts are underway by local authorities on the beaches of Dahab.
The source of the oil is supposedly coming from Aqaba, Jordan following the oil spill two days ago dumping crude oil in the Red Sea.
We recommend the following to our members in South Sinai:
- Urgently notify the CDWS at +201279667725 if you find any oil blotches on the shores or in the sea in the areas between Taba and Sharm el Sheikh in order for us to notify authorities and take action.
- It is preferable to avoid snorkeling, swimming, water sports, or diving in the affected areas between Assala and Mashraba while clean-up efforts are underway. We recommend going to other unaffected areas.
We will keep you notified regarding any updates.
Regards,
The Chamber of Diving and Water Sports
